Colton

[Verse 1]
Before I ever held you close,
I was praying on my knees.
I asked the Lord to send a child,
And He heard my every plea.
Then they laid you in my arms,
Colton, and nothing was the same.

[Chorus]
Oh, my little boy, look at you now,
Standing tall with the woman you love.
I held your hand when you were small,
Now I'm placing it in hers with love.
I'll let you go, but I'll never let you go
From this heart of mine.

[Verse 2]
We read those books a thousand times,
And prayed together every night.
You'd wake me, "Momma, I want eggs,"
Before the sun could find the light.
You brought me daisies from the field,
And frogs stuffed in your underwear.

[Chorus]
Oh, my little boy, look at you now,
Standing tall with the woman you love.
I held your hand when you were small,
Now I'm placing it in hers with love.
I'll let you go, but I'll never let you go
From this heart of mine.

[Bridge]
Then God called you to serve and save,
A firefighter, strong and true.
You run toward the things we fear,
And Mama whispers prayers for you.

[Verse 3]
Makayla, I have prayed for you
Since before I knew your name.
Hold each other, hold to God,
Through the sunshine and the rain.
Colton, be humble, faithful, kind,
And don't ever let fear decide.

[Chorus]
Oh, my little boy, look at you now,
Dancing with your beautiful bride.
I'm not losing you today,
I'm gaining a daughter by your side.
I'll let you go, but I'll never let you go
From this heart of mine.

[Outro]
I love you to the moon and back,
Around the world a thousand times.
Colton, you'll always be my little boy,
For all of my life.
