David Wayne

[Verse 1]
I was just fourteen years old,
When a promise ring was mine to hold.
An old truck and a first sweet kiss,
Who could've dreamed a life like this?
Through every road, both low and high,
God kept our love and told us why.

[Chorus]
Oh David Wayne, my faithful one,
Through fifty-one years, look what we've done.
Strong and honest, true and kind,
The best of God's love, yours and mine.
It's been a party, all these years,
Through every valley, every tear.

[Verse 2]
You broke my heart, then healed it too,
Came back and said "I'm marrying you."
A boy of twenty, me eighteen,
Building a life on faith unseen.
John David came, your pride and joy,
Our shining light, our precious boy.

[Chorus]
Oh David Wayne, my faithful one,
Through fifty-one years, look what we've done.
Strong and honest, true and kind,
The best of God's love, yours and mine.
It's been a party, all these years,
Through every valley, every tear.

[Bridge]
The storm came knocking at our door,
But God had healing still in store.
You stood so strong, you never fell,
And He made everything so well.

[Verse 3]
With Ty you hunt, you fish, you laugh,
Best buddies down a country path.
Sweet Hanna shines, so bright, so free,
You built this beautiful family.
You love the Lord, you love me too,
And I will always be there for you.

[Chorus]
Oh David Wayne, my faithful one,
Through fifty-one years, look what we've done.
Strong and honest, true and kind,
The best of God's love, yours and mine.

[Outro]
It's been a party, David Wayne,
Through all the sunshine and the rain.
