Laurie

[Verse 1]
Coming out the field house on a Friday afternoon
There she was up on that horse beneath the sky of blue
Turned to my buddy, said those words so bold and true
Some things you just know right down deep, and I knew

[Chorus]
Oh what a love, the kind that finds its way back home
Through all the years, through all the roads we walked alone
Still that same fire burning brighter than before
The best kind of love, and I couldn't ask for more

[Verse 2]
Said "hi ugly" as she crossed that campus green
Well she stopped dead in her tracks, prettiest girl I'd seen
Like a fishing hook had snagged her heart to mine
Two whole years together, oh we had ourselves a time

[Chorus]
Oh what a love, the kind that finds its way back home
Through all the years, through all the roads we walked alone
Still that same fire burning brighter than before
The best kind of love, and I couldn't ask for more

[Bridge]
Thirty-six long years drifted us apart
Two lives, three daughters, and a mending heart
But grief brought you back walking through my door
Laurie, and it clicked like never before

[Verse 3]
We finish each other's thoughts, we always do
Deeper now, so tender, oh this love is true
Laurie, my sweetheart from those golden days
I wanna take my last breath looking at your face

[Chorus]
Oh what a love, the kind that finds its way back home
Through all the years, through all the roads we walked alone
Still that same fire burning brighter than before
The best kind of love, Laurie, forevermore

[Outro]
From that horse to here, we never missed a beat
With my whole heart, girl, you make my life complete
