Nancy

[Verse 1]
Summer of ’98, before we went to class,
Basketball was everything, we were young and fast.
Lunch inside Main Hall, just another day,
When I was asked to choose a girl, I chose you that day.

[Chorus]
And I tip my matching Braves hat to the Keeper of the Stars,
She is our safe place in all of life's storms.
Oh Nancy, you're the calm and you're the laughter in the room,
After all these years, and I'd choose you, I'd choose you.

[Verse 2]
Tommy made the ask so he could get his date,
Applebees and nervous smiles, oh boy, we couldn't wait.
At the temple steps I dropped down to one knee,
You tossed that ring in the grass and gave your heart to me.

[Chorus]
And I tip my matching Braves hat to the Keeper of the Stars,
She is our safe place in all of life's storms.
Oh Nancy, you're the calm and you're the laughter in the room,
After all these years, and I'd choose you, I'd choose you.

[Bridge]
D.C. in the fall, October twenty-three,
You were twenty, I was young, but I could clearly see.
Will, then Anna, Macie too,
The greatest mom this world ever knew.

[Verse 3]
Now I'm getting old and gray, that's just the way it goes,
But you get more beautiful, the whole wide world it shows.
From Destin's sandy shores to a smile that lights the night,
Funniest heart I know, and everything feels right.

[Chorus]
So I tip my matching Braves hat to the Keeper of the Stars,
She is our safe place in all of life's storms.
Oh Nancy, you're the calm and you're the laughter in the room,
A lifetime more, and I'd choose you, I'd choose you.

[Outro]
Keeper of the stars, keeper of my heart,
My Nancy, you've been home right from the start.
