William

[Verse 1]
Some souls are written long before
They ever learn each other's name
Twice our paths just brushed and passed
Like sparks that never caught the flame
But the third time, heaven smiled
And we zinged for almost forty years

[Chorus]
It's a great life if you don't weaken
That's the faith you live and breathe
Through every storm, your hand still holding
The ones you love, our family
William, God made you strong and gentle
My Otter, my answered prayer

[Verse 2]
On that crowded summer porch
You whispered "Ditto" just to me
No one knew you said I love you
But my heart heard it perfectly
You made my oldest two your own
Then God sent our miracle baby

[Chorus]
It's a great life if you don't weaken
That's the faith you live and breathe
Through every storm, your hand still holding
The ones you love, our family
William, God made you strong and gentle
My Otter, my answered prayer

[Bridge]
Even when the fight is hard
You put us first in every way
Kept that old truck twenty-three years
Lord, thank You for this heart of gold

[Verse 3]
You worked so hard for Catholic school
Now Kaitlynn's grown, in college too
Every other Sunday, St. Joe's Starbucks
No matter how the day's been rough on you
Now we hold each other closer
With Nathaniel, our grandson, in our arms

[Chorus]
It's a great life if you don't weaken
That's the faith you live and breathe
Twenty-five years, we never count them
Just the fishing trips, you and me
William, God made you strong and gentle
My Otter, my answered prayer

[Outro]
"Honey, I have an idea," and you just smile
Big projects, fishing trips, a lifetime worth the while
Ditto, my Otter, forever
Love always, your Moe
