JR

[Verse 1]
Fifty years of dusty roads,
Of shared and quiet loads,
We built our lives with steady hands,
Made our vows and kept our plans.
We loved 'em well until the end,
Then found each other once again, my friend.

[Chorus]
Here's to the miles still left to go,
To Sunday mornings, hymns we know,
Grateful for this second start,
A gentle healing of the heart.
Happy birthday, here's my hand,
Best friend that God has ever planned.

[Verse 2]
We carried grief through darkest nights,
Raised up families, held on tight,
Grandkids running, laughter loud,
Two long marriages, both so proud.
Then heaven turned the page anew,
And led me right on back to you.

[Chorus]
Here's to the miles still left to go,
To Sunday mornings, hymns we know,
Grateful for this second start,
A gentle healing of the heart.
Happy birthday, here's my hand,
Best friend that God has ever planned.

[Bridge]
Through Tennessee's blue mountain air,
On cruising decks without a care,
Our children smiled, they understood,
This friendship, JR, it is good.

[Verse 3]
So blessed the young ones took our side,
And cheered us on through every ride,
No looking back on all we've lost,
Just counting joy, not counting cost.
JR, we're proof it's never late,
To open up another gate.

[Chorus]
Here's to the miles still left to go,
To Sunday mornings, hymns we know,
Grateful for this second start,
A gentle healing of the heart.
Happy birthday, JR, my friend,
Companion till the very end.

[Outro]
Fifty years and still we stand,
Walkin' forward, hand in hand.
