Charity

[Verse 1]
There's a porch light burning low tonight
An empty chair beside my own
The coffee's cold, the house is quiet
Never knew a heart could feel this alone
We were barely grown when we found love
Two kids with nothing but a dream

[Chorus]
Charity, you were grace I didn't earn
A second chance when I'd lost my way
You opened up the door I'd burned
And loved me through the ashes anyway
Now heaven's got the best part of me
Till faith brings me home where you'll be

[Verse 2]
We built a home and raised our children
Watched them grow in the kitchen light
But I wandered off and nearly lost it
Nearly threw away the best thing in my life
You could've walked and no one would've blamed you
But you took me back and held me tight

[Chorus]
Charity, you were grace I didn't earn
A second chance when I'd lost my way
You opened up the door I'd burned
And loved me through the ashes anyway
Now heaven's got the best part of me
Till faith brings me home where you'll be

[Bridge]
We had just found our love again
Like spring after the longest rain
Then God called you home too soon
And left me talking to the moon

[Verse 3]
Now I kneel and pray where you used to
Asking Him to carry you my thanks
For every year you gave me, every morning
Every time you didn't let me break
I'll keep your memory in our children
Till I see your smile at heaven's gate

[Chorus]
Charity, you were grace I didn't earn
A second chance when I'd lost my way
You opened up the door I'd burned
And loved me through the ashes anyway
Now heaven's got the best part of me
Till faith brings me home where you'll be

[Outro]
I miss you so much, darlin'
Save me a place by your side
I'll love you till I'm home
